A method of inflating a dunnage bag (10) in a box (66) including the steps of inflating the dunnage bag (10); with one or more sensors (97), monitoring deflection of at least two surfaces of the box (66) while inflating the dunnage bag (10); upon detecting through monitoring that deflection of either of at least two surfaces reaches a corresponding preselected threshold, automatically terminating inflating of the box (66).
