Abstract of the Disclosure A cable-reinforced inflated enclosure comprises a plurality of cables located in respective radial planes and having one of their ends connected at spaced intervals to a base and converging at the other of their ends to an apex. Strips of sheet material are attached to the cables and form an envelope and are of such shape that there is an excess width of material between the cables as they approach the apex, which excess material is forced out- wardly by the internal pressure of the enclosure and thereby form pleats which extend outwardly beyond the cables a progressively greater distance from the base to the apex. The enclosure may be made in various shapes including a sphere, a torus or a combination thereof and the shape may be altered by the use of circumferential rings and vertical tether cables.
