The invention is an inflatable tubular bolster (22) which prevents and limits injury to the occupant of a motor vehicle in a frontal or semi-frontal crash. The invention is an inflatable braided tube (22) connected beneath the dashboard of the vehicle by two straps (23) connected to the ends of the tube and to the vehicle structure (24). A gas generator (20) is connected to the tube (22) by a gas conduit (21).

Cette invention concerne un coussin (22) allongé, tubulaire et gonflable qui permet d'éviter ou de réduire les blessures pouvant être occasionnées à un passager de véhicule à moteur lors d'une collision frontale ou semi-frontale. Ce coussin se présente comme un tube (22) gonflable en matériau tressé, fixé sans le tableau de bord du véhicule à l'aide de deux sangles (23) reliées aux extrémités du tube et à la structure du véhicule (24).
