A method for producing inflated dunnage on the site of use, comprising providing, in web form, a plurality of preformed plastic bags (10), each of the bags comprising two plastic sheets (14, 16) in facing relationship and sealed along three edges with one edge (24) remaining open. Air is blown toward each of the open edges in sequence, causing each bag to inflate, and the open edge of each inflated bag is sealed, the bag being empty except for the air. A plurality of sealed inflated bags (12s) is separated from the web and placed in a carton (48) to serve as dunnage. The bags have a slip resistant outer surface which causes the bags to interlock in the carton and better protect objects (49) therein from shock.

Procédé permettant de fabriquer un matériau de protection amortissant les chocs sur le site d'utilisation, à base d'une pluralité de sacs plastiques (10) préformés sous forme de de bande, chacun des sacs étant composé de deux feuilles plastiques (14, 16) opposées l'une à l'autre et scellées le long de trois côtés, un bord (24) restant ouvert. On insuffle de l'air vers chacun des bords ouverts consécutivement, ce qui provoque le gonflement de chaque sac, puis on scelle le bord ouvert de chaque sac gonflé, le sac ne contenant que de l'air. On sépare de la bande une pluralité de sacs (12s) scellés et gonflées et on les place dans un carton (48) afin de les utiliser en tant que matériau de protection amortissant les chocs. Ces sacs possèdent une surface extérieure résistant au glissement, ce qui permet aux sacs de s'agglutiner les uns aux autres dans le carton et d'offrir une meilleure protection contre les chocs aux objets que le carton contient.
