The present invention relates to a recombinant neuraminidase to be obtained by culturing in a suitable culture medium host cells which are transformed with a neuraminidase expression vector or infected with a virus which is transformed with a neuraminidase expression vector, wherein the expression vector comprises at least a part of the coding region of a neuraminidase gene of an influenza virus minus the region which codes for the membrane anchor, or a modified version thereof, preceded in phase by a signal sequence; and isolating the expression product neuraminidase from the culture medium. The invention further relates to a vaccine in which the recombinant neuraminidase is applied, and methods for manufacturing and purifying thereof.

La présente invention se rapporte à une neuraminidase recombinante pouvant être obtenue par culture, dans un bouillon de culture approprié, de cellules hôtes qui sont transformées au moyen d'un vecteur d'expression de neuraminidase ou infectées par un virus transformé au moyen d'un vecteur d'expression de neuraminidase. Ledit vecteur comprend au moins une partie de la région codante d'un gène de neuraminidase d'un virus de la grippe, à l'exclusion de la région codant pour l'élément d'ancrage membranaire, ou une version modifiée de cette région, précédée en phase par une séquence-signal. Le produit d'expression à base de neuraminidase est ensuite isolé du bouillon de culture. L'invention se rapporte en outre à un vaccin dans lequel la neuraminidase recombinante est appliquée, ainsi qu'à des procédés de fabrication et de purification de ce vaccin.
