ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention provides an information processing system for a secondary storage medium which can prevent illegitimate reproduction of secondary storage media such as CD-ROMs by allowing only a secondary storage medium in a prescribed relation with a case therefor to be used. A first name data is stored in a secondary storage medium such as a CD-ROM beforehand, while a second name data with a relation with the first name data of the secondary storage medium as well as a name address therefor are stored in a ROM provided in a storage case. When a CPU is activated, it reads the first name data of the secondary storage medium according to the name address and a security element provided in the case compares the first name data with the second name data stored in the ROM. If the security element decides that the two name data have a prescribed relation with each other, a system controller reads a part of the program data stored in the CD- ROM for the inherent object for the image processor and sends it to a main RAM. Then, the CPU runs the program in the main RAM.
