INFORMATION SIGNAL REPRODUCING APPARATUS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An information signal reproducing apparatus comprises memory means for storing digital data encoded together with data for error correction to contain a plurality of blocks, decoding means for decoding the digital data read from the memory means through an error correction carried out thereto to produce decoded digital data and delivering the decoded digital data one block at a time, data transmission control means for controlling the transmission of the digital data from the memory means to the decoding means, analog signal processing means for forming a reproduced analog information signal in accordance with each block of the decoded digital data, data supply control means for controlling supply of each block of the decoded digital data to said analog signal processing means, and operation control means including substantially first control means for controlling the operation of the data transmission control means and the data supply control means so as to cause the decoding means to perform trial decoding of the digital data, and second control means for controlling the operation of the data transmission control means and the data supply control means so as to cause the decoding means to perform actual decoding of the digital data after the trial decoding is completed.
