The present invention provides an information storage and retrieval device in which the generation of excess heat is suppressed by a configuration by which outputs from an electrical power control circuit to a drive means are controlled by turning switching elements on and off. An information storage and retrieval device comprising a card conveyor mount for supporting and conveying a card-type information storage medium; a drive means having a linear motor, for reciprocatingly driving the card conveyor mount; an electrical power control circuit having switching elements, for providing power to the linear motor; speed detection means and for detecting the speed at which the card conveyor mount is moving; a speed command means for calculating an indicated speed corresponding to an output from the speed detection means, shaping a speed command therefrom, and sending the command to the electrical power control circuit; and an optical head for irradiating a laser beam onto the information storage medium; whereby information is written to the information storage medium by the optical head irradiating the laser beam onto the information storage medium, and information is read therefrom by detecting laser light reflected from the information storage medium; the information storage and retrieval device further comprising a comparison means having a pair of comparators and having identical threshold values of different polarities, for comparing the speed command with each of the threshold values and shaping a pair of outputs that are on during the period that the command exceeds the threshold values; wherein powering currents of the linear motor are controlled and thus drive control of the card conveyor mount is enabled by controlling switching elements in the electrical power control circuit to turn on and off in accordance with the outputs from the comparison means. Alternatively, the information storage and retrieval device causes the optical head to move instead of the card.
Dispositif de stockage et de recherche d'information dans lequel la production de chaleur excédentaire est supprimée par une configuration qui permet de commander l'énergie transmise à un moyen d'entraînement par un circuit de commande de courant électrique en ouvrant et en fermant des éléments d'interruption. Un dispositif de stockage et de recherche d'information comprenant un support d'entraînement de cartes pour soutenir et entraîner un support de données de type carte; un moyen d'entraînement doté d'un moteur linéaire pour faire avancer et reculer le support d'entraînement de carte; un circuit de commande de courant électrique comportant des éléments d'interruption pour alimenter le moteur linéaire; des moyens pour détecter la vitesse de déplacement du support d'entraînement de carte; un moyen de commande de vitesse pour calculer une vitesse indiquée correspondant à une sortie du moyen de détection de vitesse, définir une commande de vitesse en conséquence et transmettre cette commande au circuit de commande de courant électrique; et une tête optique pour projeter un faisceau laser sur le support d'information. L'information est ainsi écrite sur le support d'information par la tête optique qui projette le faisceau laser sur le support d'information, et l'information est lue sur ce dernier par détection de la lumière laser réfléchie provenant du support d'information. Le dispositif de stockage et de recherche d'information comprend en outre un moyen de comparaison doté d'une paire de comparateurs et comportant des valeurs de seuil identiques de polarités différentes pour comparer la commande de vitesse avec chacune des valeurs de seuil et définir une paire de sorties qui sont présentes pendant la période où la commande dépasse les valeurs de seuil. Les courants d'alimentation du moteur linéaire sont ainsi commandés et il est ainsi possible de commander l'entraînement du support d'entraînement de carte en ouvrant et fermant les éléments d'interruption du circuit de commande de courant électrique en fonction des sorties du moyen de comparaison. Le dispositif de stockage et de recherche d'information peut encore mettre en mouvement la tête optique au lieu de la carte.
