-0- INFRARED SENSITIZING DYE FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC ELEMENT Abstract of the Disclosure A photographic element is described comprising a support having thereon a silver halide emulsion layer comprising silver halide sensitized with a dye of the formula: Image wherein L1, L2, L3, L4, L5, L6, L7, L8, and L9 each independently represents a substituted or unsubstituted methine group, Z1 represents the atoms necessary to complete a benzothiazole nucleus, a benzoxazole nucleus, a benzoselenazole nucleus, a benzotellurazole nucleus, or a benzimidazole nucleus, which, in addition to being substituted by -SR3, is further substituted or unsubstituted, Z2 represents the atoms necessary to complete a substituted or unsubstituted 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring, R1 and R2 each independently represents substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted aryl, R3 represents substituted or unsubstituted alkyl of from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, m is 1 or 2, n is 0 or 1, and X is a counterion.
