A pyrotecnic composition that emits essentially only infrared radiation upon combustion contains at least one peroxide component, an oxidizer that is more energetic than the peroxide component, a coolant, a binder and silicon. In one embodiment, the peroxide component is a mixture of strontium peroxide and barium peroxide, the oxidizer more energetic than the peroxide component is barium nitrate, the coolant is magnesium carbonate, the binder is calcium resonate and the silicon has a minimum purity of 99.9 %. The pyrotechnic composition is useful as the combustible component of an infrared tracer.

Cette composition pyrotechnique, qui émet essentiellement uniquement du rayonnement infrarouge à la combustion, contient au moins un composant peroxydes, un oxydant plus actif que le composant peroxydes, un réfrigérant, un liant, et du silicium. Selon une réalisation, le composant peroxydes est un mélange de peroxyde de strontium et de peroxyde de baryum. L'oxydant plus actif que le composant peroxydes est un nitrate de baryum. Le réfrigérant est un carbonate de magnésium. Le liant est du résinate de calcium. Le silicium présente une pureté minimale de 99,9 %. Cette composition pyrotechnique convient comme composant combustible de traceur infrarouge.
