An orally administrable implement for expanding in a stomach of an animal, including a mammal, to fill a space in the stomach, is provided for weight control. The implement includes: a fluid-permeable expandable container having a first dimension and a second dimension; and a plurality of clusters comprising a swellable material contained within the container and capable of swelling when contacted with a fluid; whereby when the implement is ingested, the fluid in the stomach enters the container causing the clusters therein to swell and the container to expand from the first dimension to the second dimension.

L'invention concerne un accessoire administrable par voie orale pour expansion dans l'estomac d'un animal, y compris un mammifère, pour remplir un espace dans l'estomac pour le contrôle du poids. L'accessoire comporte : un contenant extensible perméable au fluide possédant une première dimension et une seconde dimension ; et une pluralité de grappes contenant un matériau gonflable compris dans le contenant et capable de gonfler au contact d'un fluide. Alors que l'accessoire est ingéré, le fluide dans l'estomac pénètre dans le contenant conduisant les grappes dans celui-ci à gonfler et le contenant à se déployer de la première dimension vers la seconde dimension.
