2086737 9200770 PCTABS00010 An inhalation device for use with a pressurised aerosol canister equipped with a metered dose dispensing valve (8) movable between a closed position and a dispensing position, the device comprising a housing (2) for supporting said canister in communication with a patient port (4) for administration of a composition dispensed from the dispensing valve, the device comprising electromechanical means (20, 22, 23-24, 26) for applying a priming force, prior to or at the start of inhalation through the patient port, to said canister or dispensing valve sufficient for actuation of the dispensing valve and blocking means to prevent said priming force actuating the dispensing valve until patient inspiration through the patient port is detected.
