A method of inhibiting the build-up of a contaminating material in a sulph(on)ation reaction vessel in which the surfaces of the reaction vessel exposed to the sulphonation reaction mixture are pretreated with a fluid containing a source of manganese whereby a coating comprising mananese dioxide is formed on those surfaces.

Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé servant à empêcher l'accumulation de matériaux contaminants dans un récipient de réaction à sulfatation/sulfonation, ce procédé consistant à traiter préalablement les surfaces du récipient de réaction exposées au mélange de réaction de sulfonation avec un fluide contenant une source de manganèse, pour qu'un revêtement comprenant du dioxyde de manganèse se forme sur ces surfaces.
