TITLE INHIBITION OF KETOL-ACID REDUCTOISOMERASE BY OXALYLHYDROXAMATE DERIVATIVES ABSTRACT A process for the selective inhibition of ketol- acid reductoisomerase (EC 1.1.1.86; KARI) through the use of oxalylhydroxamate derivatives, thereby effecting herbicidal activity on plants and inhibiting microbial growth, is disclosed. Specific oxalylhydroxamate compounds are also disclosed. Additionally, a process for assaying ketol-acid reductoisomerase at low levels is part of the invention.
