ABSTRACT Unintentional or premature polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated organic compounds, such as acrylic acid and monomeric acrylates, during distillation is inhibited by means of a phenolic inhibitor and a manganese or cerium alkanoate of a C5 to C19 monocarboxylic acid. Compositions of ethylenically unsaturated organic compounds with phenolic inhibitors and manganese or cerium alkanoates are also described.
