The present invention relates to methods and compositions for the modulation of thrombosis, in a subject, by administering a P-selectin antagonist. The invention further provides methods for modulating leukocyte recruitment, cellular migration, leukocyte rolling velocity, intercellular adhesion, and cell adhesion to blood vessels in a subject by administering soluble P- selectin ligand or fragments thereof, an anti-P-selectin ligand antibody, or an anti-P-selectin antibody. The invention also provides methods for identifying compounds capable of modulating thrombosis.
Cette invention a trait à des méthodes, ainsi qu'aux compositions correspondantes, permettant de moduler la thrombose par administration à un patient d'un antagoniste de la P-sélectine. Elle concerne également des méthodes permettant de moduler le recrutement leucocytaire, la migration cellulaire, la vitesse d'enroulement des leucocytes, l'adhérence intercellulaire et l'adhérence de cellules à des vaisseaux sanguins et ce, par administration au patient d'un ligand de P-sélectine soluble ou d'un fragment de celui-ci, d'un anticorps de ligand anti-P-sélectine, ou d'un anticorps d'anti-P-sélectine. L'invention concerne, de surcroît, des techniques d'identification de composés capables de moduler la thrombose.
