-11- ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention is directed to a process for distilling a 2-isocyanatoalkyl ester of an .alpha.,.beta.-ethyleni- cally unsaturated carboxylic acid from a liquid mixture. The invention is characterized by distilling the isocyanatoalkyl ester in the presence of an amount of gaseous nitrogen oxide effective to inhibit the vinyl polymerization of the isocyanatoalkyl ester. The formation of a popcorn polymer is inhibited by the use of a nitrogen oxide. 28,838-F -11-
