Methods and compositions employing as active ingredient hepoxilins and hepoxilin analogs are useful for inhibiting thromboxane formation and antagonising thromboxane activity. Methods and compositions employing these compounds provide treatment for thrombosis, cardiovascular disease (hypertension), diabetes mellitus, septic shock, eye disease associated with inflammation (eye diobetic neuropathy) and/or increased intraocular pressure (glaucoma) or prevent or reduce thromboxan-mediated platelet aggregation.
