ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An initiator of the intrinsic coagulation of blood, plasma or blood derivatives is claimed, which is characterised in that it comprises a mixture of sulfatides and a solid activator, preferably kaolin. Furthermore, a reagent for determining the aPTT of blood or blood derivatives is claimed, which comprises a mixture of sulfatides and a solid activator, preferably kaolin, as the initiator of the intrinsic coagulation, and which furthermore contains phospholipids. The invention also relates to a reagent for assaying the aPTT of blood, plasma or blood derivatives possibly containing heparin or heparinoid and containing an initiator of the intrinsic coagulation, which is characterised in that it contains a heparin- neutralizing agent and phospholipids. A method of assying the aPTT in such samples as well as the use of this method for assaying the activity of factors of the intrinsic coagulation and the inhibitors thereof is also claimed.
