Initiator-treated pigment particles for use in making polymer coated pigment particles, are made up of a plurality of pigment particles. Each of the pigment particles has an outer surface that is covered with a coating of initiator material. The initiator material operates as a nucleus for initiating polymerization on the surface of the particle. The initiator-treated pigment particles are made by providing a plurality of pigment particles and applying a coating of initiator material to the outer surface of each pigment particle.

L'invention concerne des particules pigmentaires traitées avec un initiateur, qui servent à produire des particules pigmentaires enduites de polymères et qui sont constituées de plusieurs particules pigmentaires. Chacune des particules pigmentaires présente une surface extérieure enduite d'un matériau initiateur. Le matériau initiateur agit comme un noyau permettant d'amorcer la polymérisation sur la surface de la particule. La production de particules pigmentaires traitées avec un initiateur consiste à prendre plusieurs particules pigmentaires et à appliquer un enduit de matériau initiateur sur la surface extérieure de chaque particule pigmentaire.
