A parenterally injectable slow-release composition consisting of solid sized microspheres (5-300 mum) which include a pharmaceutically active substance (such as morphine) contained in spherical structures made of one or more pharmacologically inactive support substances (such as cholesterol) which occur naturally in the recipient organism, are pharmacodynamically inactive at the administered doses of the galenical, have a melting point above 60 °C, and are stable in a solid state in the recipient physiological medium. The galenical can slow down and prolong the effect of active substances which dissolve too quickly in physiological media (acting on the central nervous system or the autonomic nervous system as vasodilators, antihistaminics, hormones, contraceptives, etc.)

Formulation à libération retardée destinée à l'administration par injection parentérale, constituée de microsphères calibrées solides (5-300 µm) comprenant une substance pharmaceutiquement active (par exemple: morphine) contenue dans des structures sphériques formées par une ou plusieurs substances-support pharmacologiquement inactives (par exemple: cholestérol) présentes naturellement dans l'organisme receveur, pharmacodynamiquement inactives aux doses d'administration de ladite forme galénique, ayant un point de fusion supérieur à 60 °C et stables à l'état solide dans le milieu physiologique receveur. La forme galénique permet de ralentir et de prolonger l'effet de substances actives trop rapidement solubles en milieu physiologiques (agissant sur le système nerveux central ou neuro-végétatif, comme vasodilatateurs, antihistaminiques, hormones, anticonceptifs...).
