ABSTRACT A transducer housing assembly for an ultrasonic flowmeter is disclosed. The housing may be made by an injection molding and preferably has a pair of pedestals for supporting the transducers at a specific angle while acoustically isolating the transducers from each other and providing an air backing for the transducers to improve the sensitivity of the transducer assembly. The pedestals are integral with a base of the housing and the base has a partially-cylindrical concave external surface which has a radius of curvature less than that of the pipe to which it is to be clamped. An acoustic coupling material is received in the space defined between the concave surface of the base and the convex surface of the pipe. This material cannot easily escape from the space because of the firm connection of the base to the pipe along two parallel lines at the outer edges of the base. This spaced parallel line connection also prevents rocking of the assembly on the pipe, a problem with prior systems.
