A heater assembly (14) clamps onto cylindrical bodies (12) such as injection molding nozzles (12) that require heating. A mandrel (16, 61) slips over the nozzle (12), and has a heater (24, 68) wound on the exterior. The mandrel (16, 61) has a longitudinal slit (32, 65) that will permit the bore of the mandrel (16, 61) to be reduced in size when a lateral width of the slit (32, 65) is reduced. The mandrel (16, 61) carries outwardly facing cam surfaces (20A, 21, 63A, 67), and an overlying sleeve (30, 70) has inwardly facing cam surfaces (36A, 40A, 71A, 72A) which mate, and upon relative longitudinal movement, the cam surfaces (36A, 40A, 71A, 72A) cause the lateral width of the slit (32, 65) to reduce and clamp the mandrel (16, 61) onto the nozzle (12). The clamping can be effected by differential movement due to differences in thermal expansion of the mandrel (16) and the sleeve (30), or by mechanical movement of the sleeve (70) relative to the mandrel (61) to obtain the cam action.

Un mandrin (16,61) coulisse sur la buse (12) et comporte un élément chauffant (24, 68) enroulé sur l'extérieur. Le mandrin (16, 61) présente une fente longitudinale (32, 65) qui permet de réduire la taille de l'alésage du mandrin lorsque la largeur latérale de la fente est réduite. Le mandrin supporte des surfaces de cames (20A, 21, 63A, 67) orientées vers l'extérieur, et un manchon supérieur (30, 70) comporte des surfaces de cames (36A, 40A, 71A, 72A) orientées vers l'intérieur, correspondantes. Lors d'un déplacement longitudinal relatif, les surfaces de cames (36A, 40A, 71A, 72A) provoquent la réduction de la largeur latérale de la fente (32, 65), ce qui assure la fixation par serrage du mandrin sur la buse. Le serrage peut être effectué par un déplacement différentiel dû aux différences de dilatation thermique du mandrin et du manchon, ou par un déplacement mécanique du manchon (70) par rapport au mandrin pour obtenir l'action de came.
