A process for the preparation of a molded article formed of an isotactic ethylene propylene copolymer comprising providing an isotactic ethylene-propylene copolymer having an ethylene content of no more than (5) weight percent produced by the copolymerization of ethylene and propylene in the presence of an isospecific metallocene catalyst; heating the copolymer to a molten state; incorporating a nucleating agent into copolymer in an amount effective to provide a uniform shrinkage of the molded article at 48 hours molding of the at least 85% as determined by the differential in transverse and longitudinal shrinkage at the 48 hour mark; extruding the molten copolymer into a mold cavity; cooling the copolymer within the confines of the mold cavity to solidify the copolymer and form the molded article which is then retrieved from the mold cavity.
L'invention concerne un procédé pour la préparation d'un article moulé formé d'un copolymère isotactique d'éthylène et de propylène comprenant les étapes consistant à fournir un copolymère isotactique d'éthylène et de propylène dont la teneur en éthylène est d'au plus (5) pour cent en poids, produit par la copolymérisation d'éthylène et de propylène en présence d'un catalyseur métallocène isospécifique ; chauffer le copolymère jusqu'à l'état fondu ; incorporer un agent de nucléation dans le copolymère en une quantité efficace pour permettre un retrait uniforme de l'article moulé dans un moulage de 48 heures d'au moins 85 % selon une détermination par la différence entre le retrait transversal et le retrait longitudinal au point 48 heures ; extruder le copolymère fondu dans une cavité de moule ; refroidir le copolymère dans l'enceinte de la cavité du moule pour solidifier le copolymère et former l'article moulé qui est ensuite récupéré dans la cavité du moule.
