In an injection molding process for producing head bands or head protector bands (4) of tennis rackets (1), a decoration layer is introduced into the mold (13, 14) and the material of the head band or head protector band (4) is introduced via the injection molding tool (15) after closing of the mold (13, 14). The device for carrying out the process comprises a foil displacement means having its direction of displacement extending transverse to an injection molding tool (15), the stepwise advance actuation of which is coupled with the opening of the injection mold.
