An ink cartridge constituted by: a container storing ink therein an having an ink supply port (4) in a leading end side in an insertion direction of the container; memory means (7) disposed on one of opposite surfaces parallel with the insertion direction of the container, the memory means having an electrode connectable to the recording device; a retaining member (5) disposed on the one surface and located at a trailing end side relative to the memory means in the insertion direction, the retaining member being capable of being engaged or disengaged with the recording device; and another retaining member (6)disposed on the other surface and capable of being engaged or disengaged with the recording device.
Une cartouche à encre consiste en un récipient contenant de l'encre, et étant munis des éléments suivants : un orifice d'alimentation en encre (4) sur un côté avant dans une direction d'insertion du contenant; un dispositif de mémoire (7) disposé sur l'une des surfaces opposées parallèles avec la direction d'insertion du contenant, le dispositif de mémoire comportant une électrode pouvant être branchée à l'appareil d'enregistrement; un élément de maintient (5) disposé sur une surface et placée à l'extrémité arrière par rapport au dispositif de mémoire dans la direction d'insertion, l'élément de maintient pouvant être engagé avec l'appareil d'enregistrement ou en être séparé; et un autre élément de maintien (6) placé sur l'autre surface et pouvant être engagé avec l'appareil d'enregistrement ou en être séparé.
