In the high-speed web printing industry printing presses are known to utilize a series of ink-keys in order to control the flow of ink to the print head mechanism. In this invention the ink key utilizes a positive directly driven gear drive that allows the operator to control its position using a remotely controlled solenoid or a manually controlled knob. In this system the mechanism is protected from being over torqued by a ball bearing load set.
