An ink knife for use in combination with printing machinery comprises an elongated flat blade, rectangular in shape at its forward end. The blade is connected to a hollow handle, the diameter of the handle being far greater than the thickness of the blade. The width of the blade narrows towards its point of attachment to the handle. The handle is roughly cylindrical in shape for substantially its full length, and widens gradually towards its forward end, with the widest portion of the handle being connected to the narrowest portion of the blade. The longitudinal axis of the handle is coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the blade. The handle is connected to the blade in such a manner that it is in the same plane as the plane passing through the centre axis of the handle.
