Improved ink receptive coating compositions which impart high optical density images and excellent water resistance when applied to a surface of a variety of suitable substrates. The coating composition comprises an amine modified poly(vinyl alcohol) polymer in which the poly(vinyl alcohol) is graft polymerized with one or more ethylenically unsaturated amine functional monomers containing primary, secondary, tertiary, or quaternary amine functionality.

L'invention concerne des compositions de revêtement améliorées réceptives à l'encre qui confèrent une densité optique élevée à la reproduction d'images et assurent une excellente résistance à l'eau en application à la surface d'une variété de substrats appropriés. Ce type de composition renferme un polymère de poly(alcool de vinyle) à modification amine, sachant que le poly(alcool de vinyle) subit une polymérisation avec greffage d'un ou plusieurs monomères insaturés en éthylène à fonction amine primaire, secondaire, tertiaire ou quaternaire.
