ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An inking ribbon with overlapping overstrike is provided, the said ribbon consisting of a support (backing) -foil and an ink-releasing coating, applied thereto, in the form of a plastic matrix with an oil-based paste dispersed therein and containing carbon-black and ink-pigments. The ink- releasing coating also contains a dyestuff in the form of an oily dyestuff dissolved, at a high concentration, in a polyethoxylated fatty-acid ester of a multivalent alcohol. The inking ribbon provides, even after a 12-fold overstrike, a sharp-edged script of uniform colouration and is particularly suitable for use in index-wheel printers.
