ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention refers to an inking system with an impress- ion cylinder and an inking roller. For the solution of the prob- lem to further develop an inking system of that kind such that the printing quality is improved, the inking roller has a smooth sleeve surface, preferably made of rubber or synthetic material. During ink application, the inking roller is adjustable to the impression cylinder during ink application without forming a gap and preferably under pressure. The circumferential speed of the inking roller is variable with respect to the one of the impress- ion cylinder.
