An inlet head for a cyclone, the inlet head including a feed chamber therein having an inner side wall, an end wall at one end of the side wall, an open end at the other end of the side wall, the open end being of circular cross- section with a central axis. The inlet head further includes an inlet port adjacent the end wall for delivering material to be separated to the feed chamber, the inlet port having a feed height dimension H1 in the direction of the central axis, an overflow outlet in the end wall which is coaxial with the central axis, a vortex finder at the end wall or extending into the feed chamber in the direction of the central axis a distance L1 from the end wall, and a feed inlet zone in the inner side wall of the feed chamber having an upstream end adjacent the inlet port and a downstream end. The feed inlet zone is in the form of a volute having a volute axis extending around the inner side wall and including a first sector in which the volute is generally at right angles to the central axis and a second sector in which the volute extends around the side wall generally in the direction of the central axis away from the end wall wherein the distance from the volute axis to the central axis decreases with the progression of the volute from the inlet port, and the distance L1 is a fraction F of the feed height dimension H1.
La présente invention concerne une tête d'entrée pour cyclone, cette tête d'entrée comprenant à l'intérieur une chambre d'alimentation possédant une paroi latérale intérieure, une paroi d'extrémité à une extrémité de la paroi latérale, une extrémité ouverte à l'autre extrémité de cette paroi latérale, l'extrémité ouverte présentant une coupe circulaire avec un axe central. Cette tête d'entrée comprend aussi un orifice d'entrée contiguë à la paroi d'extrémité destiné à apporter un matériau à séparer à la chambre d'alimentation, cet orifice d'entrée possédant une dimension hauteur d'alimentation H1 dans la direction de l'axe central, une sortie de débordement dans la paroi d'extrémité coaxiale avec l'axe central, un localisateur de tourbillon au niveau de la paroi d'extrémité ou s'étendant dans la chambre d'alimentation en direction de l'axe central à une distance L1 de la paroi d'extrémité et, une zone d'entrée d'alimentation dans la paroi latérale intérieure de la chambre d'alimentation possédant une extrémité amont contiguë à l'orifice d'entrée et une extrémité aval. La zone d'entrée d'alimentation présente la forme d'une volute possédant un axe de volute s'étendant autour de la paroi latérale intérieure et comprenant un premier secteur dans lequel la volute est généralement placée à angle droit par rapport à l'axe central et un second secteur dans lequel la volute s'étend autour de la paroi latérale généralement dans la direction de l'axe central à distance de la paroi d'extrémité, la distance de l'axe de volute à l'axe central diminuant avec la progression de cette volutes à partir de l'orifice d'entrée et, la distance L1 étant une fraction F de la dimension de hauteur d'alimentation H1
