A device (14), to improve the working of an inline catalytic converter (13), the device (14) affecting the flow of hot exhaust gases to improve the transfer of heat from the exhaust gases to the catalytic converter (13). The device (14) may include a profile comprising a plurality of recesses or cavities (figure 1) to facilitate increased turbulence of the gases to improve heat absorption, or a valve (24) which is operable between an open or closed or partially closed position, the valve being downstream from the catalytic converter and functioning to increase the resident time of the exhaust gases about the catalytic converter (13).
L'invention concerne un dispositif (14) destiné à améliorer le travail d'un convertisseur catalytique en ligne (13), le dispositif (14) affectant le flux de gaz d'échappement chauds pour améliorer le transfert de chaleur des gaz chauds vers le convertisseur catalytique (13). Ledit dispositif (14) peut comprendre un profilé présentant une pluralité de creux ou de cavités (figure 1) destinée à faciliter une turbulence accrue des gaz en vue d'améliorer l'absorption de chaleur, ou une soupape (24) qui peut être actionnée entre une position ouverte ou fermée ou partiellement fermée, la soupape étant située en aval du convertisseur catalytique et fonctionnant de manière augmenter le temps de séjour des gaz d'échappement dans le convertisseur catalytique (13).
