ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An inline intravenous final filter unit especially of the bacteria-retentive type is provided which is adapted to be incorporated in administering sets for administering infusion solutions to patients. The filter unit comprises a casing having an inlet cap at one end and an outlet cap at the other end. At least one porous fibre is arranged within the casing in parallel to the longitudinal direction thereof. The fibre has a nominal pore diameter of 0.1 to 5 µ. The hollow fibre is closed at one end opposed to the inlet cap and open at the other end thereof opposed to the outlet cap. The hollow fibre is tightly fixed at the outer peripheral portion of its open end to the inner wall of the casing by a securing member. The ratio of the total effective filtration area of the hollow fibre to the capacity of the casing is at least 4 cm-1. This fil- ter is capable of removing bacterial, fungi or fine particles. It can maintain a constant flow rate even without using a positive pressure in- fusion pump.
