A system includes a patient support and an outer gantry on which an accelerator is mounted to enable the accelerator to move through a range of positions around a patient on the patient support. The accelerator is configured to produce a proton or ion beam having an energy level sufficient to reach a target in the patient. An inner gantry includes an aperture for directing the proton or ion beam towards the target.
La présente invention concerne un système comprenant un dispositif de support d'un patient et un portique extérieur sur lequel est monté un accélérateur. Ledit portique permet à l'accélérateur de se déplacer pour occuper diverses positions tout autour d'un patient installé sur le dispositif de support du patient. L'accélérateur est conçu pour produire un faisceau de protons ou d'ions dont le niveau d'énergie est suffisant pour atteindre une cible dans l'organisme du patient. Un portique intérieur comporte une ouverture permettant de diriger le faisceau de protons ou d'ions vers la cible.
