ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides an inner socket gasket for pipe line joints comprising a sleeve of elastic material adapted to engage the inside surface of the pipeline and extend over the joint, said sleeve adapted to be held under pressure against the inside wall of the pipe line by annular tensioning elements on both sides of the joint, wherein in the region of the tensioning elements the sleeve has an annular recess disposed in its outer surface, the width of said recess corresponding approximately to that of the tightening ring, and wherein an annular pad of a highly elastic rubber like material, which is in contact with the inside wall in the non-compressed state and is encompassed in chamber fashion by the recess and the inside wall of the pipe in the compressed state, is provided in the recess.
