Inositol derivatives are described that are represented by the structural formula (I) wherein X is a radical of scyllo-inositol wherein one or more of R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, and R6 are independently alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkylene, alkenylene, alkoxy, alkenyloxy, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, cycloalkoxy, aryl, aryloxy, arylalkoxy, aroyl, heteroaryl, heterocyclic, acyl, acyloxy, sulfoxide, sulfate, sulfonyl, sulfenyl, sulfonate, sulfinyl, amino, imino, azido, thiol, thioalkyl, thioalkoxy, thioaryl, nitro, cyano, halo, seleno, silyl, silyloxy, silylthio, carboxyl, carbonyl, carbamoyl, or carboxamide and the other of R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, or R6 are hydroxyl, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The compounds, compositions comprising same and methods using same are described for use in the prevention and/or treatment of diseases characterized by abnormal protein folding or aggregation or amyloid formation, desposition, accumulation or persistence.
L'invention concerne des dérivés d'inositol représentés par la formule développée (I) dans laquelle X désigne un radical de scyllo-inositol, et un ou plusieurs substituants parmi R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 et R6 représente(nt) indépendamment alkyle, alcényle, alcynyle, alkylène, alkénylène, alcoxy, alkényloxy, cycloalkyle, cycloalcényle, cycloalcoxy, aryle, aryloxy, arylalcoxy, aroyle, hétéroaryle, hétérocycle, acyle, acyloxy, sulfoxyde, sulfate, sulfonyle, sulfényle, sulfonate, sulfinyle, amino, imino, azido, thiol, thioalkyle, thioalcoxy, thioaryle, nitro, cyano, halo, séléno, silyle, silyloxy, silylthio, carboxyle, carbonyle, carbamoyle ou carboxamide tandis que les autres substituants parmi R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 et R6 désignent hydroxyle ou sont des sels d'hydroxyle pharmaceutiquement acceptables. Ces composés, des compositions renfermant ces composés, ainsi que des procédés d'utilisation correspondants peuvent servir à prévenir et/ou traiter des maladies caractérisées par un repliement protéique anormal, une agrégation protéique, ou une formation, un dépôt, une accumulation ou une persistance d'amyloïde.
