This invention relates to the purification of a group of insecticidally effective toxins isolated from the wasp, Bracon hebetor, characterized by their neurotoxic effect on insect pest and low mammalian toxicity. The cDNA sequences for two of these toxins have been isolated, and the complete coding sequence is provided. This invention also discloses methods for producing recombinant toxins, as well as methods of utilizing these toxins as insecticidal agents.

L'invention concerne la purification d'un groupe de toxines ayant un effet insecticide efficace, isolées de l'abeille du genre Bracon hebetor et se caractérisant par leur effet neurotoxique sur les insectes nuisibles et leur faible toxicité vis-à-vis des mammifères. Les séquences d'ADNc pour deux de ces toxines ont été isolées et la séquence de codage complète a été produite. L'invention porte également sur des procédés de production de toxines de recombinaison, ainsi que sur des méthodes d'utilisation de ces toxines en tant qu'agents insecticides.
