An expandable transformer housing having a first housing member with a hollow cavity therein, a second housing member with a hollow cavity therein, and at least one exterior insert member therebetween in a stacked formation. The exterior insert member has a first end and a second end. A portion of the first end of the exterior insert member is adapted to engage the first housing member and a portion of the second end of the insert member is adapted to engage the second housing member. An interior insert member is also provided having a first end and a second end. A portion of the first end of the interior insert member is similarly adapted to engage the first housing member and a portion of the second end of the interior insert member is adapted to engage the second housing member. The interior insert provides insulation between the current source and the second windings of the transformer. The exterior and interior inserts are designed to expand the mounting depth of the transformer's enclosure to provide a stacked design in an interlocking manner.

L'invention se rapporte à un logement à dimension variable de transformateur comportant un premier élément à l'intérieur duquel est ménagée une cavité creuse, un second élément à l'intérieur duquel est ménagée une cavité creuse et au moins un élément de pièce rapportée extérieure placé entre les deux éléments de manière à former un empilement. L'élément de pièce rapportée extérieure comporte une première extrémité et une seconde extrémité. Une partie de la première extrémité de l'élément de pièce rapportée extérieure est conçue pour s'accoupler au premier élément du logement et une partie de la seconde extrémité de l'élément de pièce rapportée est conçue pour s'accoupler au second élément du logement. Un élément de pièce rapportée intérieure comportant une première extrémité et une seconde extrémité est également utilisé. Une partie de la première extrémité de l'élément de pièce rapportée intérieure est conçue de manière similaire pour s'accoupler au premier élément du logement et une partie de la seconde extrémité de l'élément de pièce rapportée intérieure est conçue pour s'accoupler au second élément de logement. La pièce rapportée intérieure assure l'isolation entre la source de courant et les enroulements secondaires du transformateur. Les pièces rapportées intérieure et extérieure sont conçues pour accroître la profondeur de montage du logement du transformateur et permettre l'obtention d'une structure empilée d'interblocage.
