A container having a base with an open top and a lid to cover the open top. The lid has a first frame member integrally formed on the interior of its top to retain an insert, such as a piece of aromatic wood. A second frame member has an open central section that fits over the first frame member and the first and second frame members have interfitting engaging elements to hold them together. The second frame member has a peripheral lip extending inwardly of its open central section to overlie the insert piece in the first frame member and prevent it from falling out of the retainer.
