27759-6 ABSTRACT A device for use with a computer which includes a diskette element for insertion into a computer disk drive unit. The device further includes an external element connected to the diskette element, which is located outside the disk drive. A connecting means associated with the external disk and the diskette element is adapted to provide connection therebetween. The connection means may consist of cable, radio, infrared or microwave transmissions. The external element may include a display, a keyboard, a read/write device for chip cards or a modem for providing data to the computer.
