INSOLUBLE POLYMERIC CONTACT PRESERVATIVES ABSTRACT What is disclosed is a method of inhibiting the growth of microorganisms by contacting them with novel insoluble polymeric silsesquioxanes having the unit formula [cnH2n+1(cH3) Image (cH2)ySiO3/2]R where n has a value of 8 to 22, y has a value of 1 to 4, R has a value such that the silsesquioxane is an insoluble, friable solid, and X is chloride, bromide or the -COOH radical.
