The present invention relates to an installation for storing and recovering electric energy comprising two first and second enclosures (1, 2) containing a gas and porous refractory materials (11) capable of transferring thermal calories by contact between the said porous refractory materials and a gas travelling through the said enclosures, and means (3b, 4b) for compressing and means (3c, 4c) for expanding the gas travelling in pipes between each of the ends of an enclosure connected to one end of the other enclosure. The present invention relates to methods for storing electric energy in the form of thermal energy in which use is made of an installation according to the invention and a method for recovering an electric energy (E R) from a thermal energy stored by a method according to the invention. The electric energy is stored in the form of heat inside masses of refractory products, and this stored thermal potential energy is recovered in the form of electric energy.
La présente invention concerne une installation de stockage et restitution d'énergie électrique comprenant: deux première et seconde enceintes (1,2) contenant un gaz et des matériaux réfractaires poreux (11) aptes à transférer des calories thermiques par contact entre lesdits matériaux réfractaires poreux et un gaz circulant à travers lesdites enceintes, et des moyens de compression (3b, 4b) et des moyens de détente (3c, 4c) du gaz circulant dans des canalisations entre chacune des extrémités d'une enceinte reliée à une extrémité de l'autre enceinte. La présente invention concerne des procédés de stockage d'énergie électrique sous forme d'énergie thermique dans lequel on utilise une installation selon l'invention et un procédé de restitution d'une énergie électrique (E R) à partir d' une énergie thermique stockée par un procédé selon l' invention. L'énergie électrique est stockée sous forme de chaleur au sein de masses de produits réfractaires, et cette énergie potentielle thermique stockée est restituée sous forme d'énergie électrique.
