ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides an installation for calcining or sintering fine-grained material comprising a pre- heating zone heated by the hot waste gases from a calcining zone, a calcining zone in which the material is further heated by means of a hot gas stream produced by a flame, a separation zone for separating the material from the hot gas stream and a cooling zone for cooling the separated material, the separation zone being heated and forming a second calcining zone.
