ABREGE DESCRIPTIF L'invention concerne la génération d'une atmosphère de traitement thermique des métaux incluant un alcool, tel le méthanol, se décomposant par craquage. Une installation géné- ratrice comporte un circuit d'azote relié à une source sous pression, un circuit d'alcool relié à un réservoir pressurisé contenant l'alcool en phase liquide et un injecteur prévu pour introduire l'alcool et l'azote à l'intérieur d'un four sous forme d'un brouillard d'alcool dans un jet d'azote. L'in- vention s'applique en particulier à la cémentation, au chauf- fage avant trempe et au recuit des aciers.
