Abstract of the Disclosure Apparatus for the mechanical shelling of crustacea and, in particu- lar, krill is disclosed. The apparatus operating on the principle of a spinning rotor which co-operates with a stationary system of cutting and chopping elements. The apparatus includes a body or casing mounted on a bed and having an output passage and a lid. The rotor is installed inside the casing and a replaceable working disc is mounted on this rotor. There is a vertical cylindrical chute mounted above the horizontally disposed working disc, with a toothed ring protruding from the bottom end of this chute. The tips of the teeth on the ring point toward the working face of the disc. The toothed ring includes a replaceable collar on which vertical bars and inclined bars are mounted. There is a multi-jet water spray installed in the top section in the chute. The working face of the disc is provided with identical protrusions, having knife-edges preferably directed perpendicular to the direction of disc rotation. The working face of the disc is prefer- ably concave.
