Controlling the volume of an audible alert associated with an instant messaging communications session includes rendering, on a first instant messaging user system, an instant messaging application user interface (405) for an instant messaging communications session involving at least a first instant messaging user and a second instant messaging user, receiving notification of an event (410) related to the instant messaging communications session, determining a characteristic of the event (420), accessing an audible alert to be rendered to signal existence of the event (425), adjusting based upon the determined characteristic of the event (430, 445, 460) a volume of the audible alert corresponding to the event (430, 450, 460), and rendering the audible alert to signal existence of the event (440, 455, 465).
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de régler le volume d'une alerte sonore associée à une session de communication par messagerie instantanée. Ce procédé consiste à afficher sur un premier système d'utilisateur de messagerie instantanée, une première interface utilisateur avec l'application de messagerie instantanée, pour une session de communication par messagerie instantanée à laquelle participent au moins un premier utilisateur de messagerie instantanée et un second utilisateur de messagerie instantanée, à recevoir une notification d'un événement associé à la session de communication par messagerie instantanée, à déterminer une caractéristique de cet événement, à accéder à un alerte sonore destinée à être émise afin de signaler l'existence de l'événement, à régler en fonction de la caractéristique déterminée de l'événement le volume de l'alerte sonore correspondant à l'événement, et à émettre l'alerte sonore afin de signaler l'existence de l'événement.
