A trial implant component for use in a surgical procedure for replacement of a joint prosthesis at a joint between a long bone and another bone includes a metaphyseal part which can be located so that it extends into a cavity at the resected face of the long bone in contact with the internal wall of the cavity in the metaphyseal region. The metaphyseal part has a part of a spigot and socket assembly for engaging a mating component which has the corresponding part of the said assembly. The spigot and socket assembly defines an assembly axis, in which the ratio of the length of the metaphyseal part measured between the superior and inferior faces along the assembly axis to its width at the superior face measured generally along the medial-lateral axis is not more than about 1Ø The angle between the plane defined by the peripheral edge of the superior face of the metaphyseal part and the plane defined by the peripheral edge of its inferior face is not more than about 30~.
La présente invention a trait à un composant d'implant d'essai destiné à être utilisé dans une intervention chirurgicale pour le remplacement d'une prothèse d'articulation au niveau d'une articulation entre un os long et un autre os comportant une partie métaphysaire qui peut être située de sorte qu'elle pénètre dans une cavité au niveau de la face réséquée de l'os long en contact avec la paroi interne de la cavité dans la région métaphysaire. La partie métaphysaire présente une partie d'un ensemble d'ergot et d'emboîture pour l'engagement d'un composant complémentaire qui possède la partie correspondante dudit ensemble. L'ensemble d'ergot et d'emboîture définit un axe d'assemblage, dans lequel le rapport de la longueur de la partie métaphysaire mesurée entre les faces supérieure et inférieure selon l'axe médial-latéral est égal ou inférieur à 1,0. L'angle entre le plan défini par le bord périphérique de la face supérieure de la partie métaphysaire et du plan défini par le bord périphérique de sa face inférieure est égal ou inférieur à environ 30°.
