ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to an instru- ment that detects a steam leakage and measures the rate thereof as to determine the operational status of a steam trap, and that is devised to prevent rippling of the water surface on the primary side of the bulkhead of the instrument installed between the steam supply side and the steam trap and to measure the quantity of steam that is leaking using an interrelation between the water level on the primary side of the bulkhead and the quantity of gas that goes through the passage defined in the bulkhead.
