An insufflating surgical instrument adapted for movement across an abdominal wall to insufflate an abdominal region of a patient. The instrument comprises a shaft having an insufflation extending along an axis between a proximal end and an distal end, the insufflation channel being adapted for connection to s source of fluid under pressure at the proximal end, a tip at the distal end of the shaft, ant at least one vent hole formed at the tip or the shaft being in connection with the insufflation channel and being adapted to expel the fluid under pressure to insufflate the abdominal region. At least one of the tip and the shaft is formed of a translucent or transparent material such as polycarbonate to facilitate visualization of the abdominal wall and the abdominal region.

L'invention concerne un instrument chirurgical insufflateur conçu pour se déplacer le long d'une paroi abdominale afin d'insuffler de l'air dans une région abdominale d'un patient. L'instrument comprend une tige comprenant un canal d'insufflation qui s'étend le long d'un axe entre une extrémité proximale et une extrémité distale et qui est conçu pour être raccordé à une source de fluide sous pression au niveau de l'extrémité proximale, une pointe au niveau de l'extrémité distale de la tige et au moins un trou de ventilation pratiqué au niveau de la pointe ou la tige étant raccordée au canal d'insufflation et conçue pour expulser le fluide sous pression afin d'insuffler de l'air dans la région abdominale. La pointe et/ou la tige sont constituées d'un matériau translucide ou transparent tel que du polycarbonate afin de faciliter la visualisation de la paroi abdominale et de la région abdominale.
